Hadgimuzik wins artist of the year with empty seats l coconutnews24

   The third edition of Sissala music awards has just ended with the artist of the year going to a dancehall musician called Hadgimuzik, he however received his award with empty seats in the hall. The artist of the year this time round will receive a certificate, undisclosed amount of money and a standard video recording for free, this was announced when the award was presented to him. This year the program went successfully but the attendance was very low, there were a lot of empty seats in the hall during the program. The people were not happy with the attendance this year because it was not far far better and bigger than last year.

   coconutnews24 spoke to some participants in the program and they were ok with the performance and more especially the guest artist Raphius but was however very worried about why the empty seats were many in the hall. They were blaming the organisers for not marketing the show enough for people to come, others also suggested that because of the Sanla today most people were relaxing for the Eid prayers.
  We made efforts to speak to the program organisers and they were busy attending to other matters of great interest, we will still follow up to hear their side of the story and why the program was patronized by the general public.

I looked like a "Johnny just come " before an ATM machine l coconutnews24

    We all travel to places to see things or for official assignments, some even travel just to visit friends or family members. In most of this travels, people tend to encounter themselves with the new environment they have gone to meet, Not because they have not  traveled before but because they have gone to meet a totally different society. Some will even go to the extend of losing their way, A similar thing happened to me just some few days back in one town in Ghana. I nearly became a laughing stock before something in one of our big institution.
    I visited one town in Ghana to visit my relatives, friends and also to carryout some official assignments. In one of those days during my visit, I got short of money, so I had to pick a Taxi to one of the nearest banks just to take some money. I got to one bank called GT Bank, I was not their customer nor do did I have an account there but my fortunate aspect was that, they operate an ATM machine. This their ATM machine I was lucky because it accepted Visa card from other banks, so I inserted my card into the  machine. This was where I became a "Jonny just come" before this ATM machine.
    When I inserted the card, in my location when you insert a card you wait for some minutes to access it but theirs was different. Because in my location when your card is accepted by the machine, the ATM request for your pin number, not knowing this GT Bank ATM was different from my usual bank. In their case it was not requesting for my pin number but for me to select a language, so I also stood there waiting for this ATM to ask me for my pin. I stood there for more than minutes and this ATM will not ask me for my pin, so I became helpless at that time. I was looking left and right to see weather I was doing the wrong thing or what, because someone may thing i wanted to do something bad before the machine. Do you know what happened when I stood there for those minutes without the ATM machine asking for my pin? If not that experience, I never knew an ATM machine could request for something apart from a pin number first.
    It took the services of a second party who was then the security man at post, he had to approach me to see what I was doing before this ATM machine for all that long. When he came he saw the machine asking for a Language and I was standing, so he directed me to select the language. There was English and other two languages, he further guided me to select my purpose and finally withdrew the money from the bank. You see, I am a professionally trained teacher but yet I took the services of a " common " security man ( I don't even know his level of education) to guide me perform my service. Who knows, I may had stand there for long hours or even put my self into trouble for staying long with the device.
Lessons we all need to learn from this trip
1) We should know that, in this world no body knows everything on this earth. That's why you cannot be rich and poor at the same time or good or bad at the same time, you will be one at time.
2) We should also know that, you can be a teacher today and be a student tomorrow due to the situation. Like what happened to me, I became a student before the ATM machine and the security man the teacher.
3) We should show love to who ever we meet, because the one you will pass by today will rescue you from something some day some where. In my situation I first greeted the security man before I went to the ATM machine.
4) We should be ready to learn from others, because God have created us all different. So what you know I may not know it and the vise Verser. If I thought I was more than the security man, can you imagine what would have happened to me?
5) This  also shows that, learning is a continues thing not a one day job. ( a process not an event)
   This my personal experience, a real life situation not a fiction. I hope you have learned something from it too, it can be of help to you one day.

He is one of the brain in the district, but his talent have not been discovered yet. He has been underground for far too long doing his own things. He is signed to Jinapor Entertainment label, This guy can sing and rap almost all Sarkodie tracks, very versatile in the rap music. I call him the fastest rapper / Afro-pop star to happen to the music industry in the region. This guy when given the support and prayers he will do more than what he is currently doing, he is more than creative  to the music fraternity .
   He has just recorded his first single about to drop it, the  song have been done, the mix and everything is done. What is left now is for the time to come for the song to be released to the public. The song is an Afro-pop tune, the lyrics and fine lines are too much. Member of Parliament meets sports contingent at Cape Coast l coconutnews24

    The member of Parliament for Sissala East Hon. Ridwan Abass Dauda visited the upper west regional contingents taking part in this year's inter regionals competition held at Cape Coast, the member of Parliament after visiting also met the girl from the Sissala East district who is making the Sissala's proud in 100m and 200m. Hon. Ridwan donated an amount to the tune of Ghs1000 for them  for their upkeep at the camp.
     Hon. Abass is one of the football lovers  in the region, this man likes sports like everything. He has always visited sports contingents from the local level to the national level just to interact with them. This information was gotten on the official Facebook page of the member of Parliament yesterday, he posted a picture with the coaches from the region and other important dignitaries from the region. Hon. Abass also took a picture with the girl who won both 100m and 200m, Halutie Hor.

Minister donates equipments worth Ghs7,000 to beneficiary communities l coconutnews24

  The deputy upper west regional minister, Mr. Amidu Issahaku Chinnia today donated some office items and other assorted items to two communities in Sissala East and Sissala west. He was called by the educational director about their inability to photocopy and print official documents, The minister after hearing that from the directorate took steps to address their challenges from his personal savings.
    In the early hours of day, the deputy minister visited Nabugbelle in the Sissala east and Gwollu in the Sissala west district to make his presentation to them, at Gwollu educational office, he donated a printer, photo copier and scanner worth four thousand eight hundred Ghana CEDI's ( Ghs4,800 ). He challenged the directorate to take good care of the equipment. At Nabugbelle CHIP compound the deputy minister donated an air conditioner and a refrigerator worth two thousand two hundred Ghana CEDI's ( Ghs2,200 ), he told the health facility officials to take good care of the items for them to last longer, Mr. Chinnia said the items were founded by himself.
    coconutnews24 spoke to Mr. Latif Chakilia, who is the special assistant to the deputy minister, he said the minister made this presentation from his personal pocket because of how health and education is very dear to His heart. SMA board member respond to 'critics', saying there is misunderstanding about SMA l coconutnews24

   " Please you are getting SMA concept very wrong and totally deviated, Do you know we have sissala music association? What are the roles of music associations ? SMA is an awarding scheme setup to recognise our own local artist for their hard work during a period, which has always been made competitive to avoid been bias, a whole board is setup to do independent work just place nominees on the right categories filed for competition. Where is the personal interest here bro? SMA is not just only the organisers work it constitute a lot and I believe you should have even known better because Frankly speaking if you are talking about other bigger programs , let me ask bow many of our own local artist can even meet such standards ? We look up to them for improvement and in sissala music we can boast of at least five competitive artist (musicians) who can meet every standard in Ghana music, the rest are still learning so SMA can not leave them out of competitions like this though " they are still basic "
    Take a look at almost every small business which is capital intensive, how many of our own business operators are willing to sponsor to make our programs standard ?they even see musicians sometimes like "jokers" I think the purpose for SMA -SISSALA MUSIC AWARDS is helping to change perceptions within us, Pls am advising you put right ups to promote because your intentions are too early to be thought of.     Sierra Leone is in the news again for all the unfortunate reasons, latest information coming from this country suggest that over 400 people have allegedly lost their lives and even more frightening is the number of people who have been reported mission in Sierra Leone at the capital town called free town, a mudslide occurred in the countries capital town free town.  Other properties worth thousands of United State dollars have also been reported destroyed or either misplaced from the reports coming from the towns news papers.

Help! Help! Help!- Kuri to SMA organizers l coconutnews24

  
It saddens me the way things are done when it come to the Sissala_Music Industry. In my own opinion, I think some #Individuals play a personal interest role and have a Money making mentally instead of pushing our music and our artist to the world music map.
   In the whole of the Upper west region, it is Only in our (Sissala) area we are trying to promote our artist and that's very good to write home about apart from a regional award scheme. I stand for correction though. My worry now is that, how to promote our artist more apart from using only social media. People have found a way of making money out of these our upcoming artist who needed more support than making money out of them when they are not actually given tips out of their sweet and most importantly, they are not given good or any promotion.  Can someone help put our upcoming artist in a good standing when we talk music.
The Sissala_Music_Awards (SMA) organizers should kindly take a cue from other big events.  My piece of advise. It has come to my notice the way some things are done within that event organization. I have watched a lot of musical awards on television and have read about how things are put in place before, during and after the events. What I know mostly is that, in a particular year of  musical work, songs from artists are submitted for consideration and further nominations into various categories for onward voting by funs of the artists. Am sadden it is not the case in years SMA as  an artist has non of his songs in the musical map of the Sisssala area yet has been nominated. I am not in any way destroying this year's SMA but putting it to the organizers that, things need to be done rightly, otherwise, our industry will collapse like weak building. I stand to be corrected though. I want the right things to done to put our artist in the Musical_Map

Newly installed Zini kuoro visited the deputy upper west regional minister in his office l coconutnews24

  The 33 year old accountant who was recently installed by the Buwa traditional council as the Paramount chief for Zini traditional council paid a courtesy call on the deputy Upper West regional minister at his office in Wa, the meeting was held in the late hours of yesterday. Kuoro Diyaka Ninia was with his secretary and Fachu kuoro and other elders, it was a private visit by the chief to the deputy minister's  office just to officially introduce himself to the ministries and other departments in the office of the regional ministries.
   This information came to coconutnews24 through the official Facebook wall of the deputy regional minister's office, after the successful meeting with the chief and His elders, the deputy upper west regional minister Hon. Amidu Chinnia posted a picture with the traditional council on Facebook. The minister said they had a fruitful discussions together, the details for the meeting was however not stated on the post on Facebook. This not the first time a chief have visited the deputy regional minister in his office, they have always visited him since his assumption as the deputy minister for the Upper West region.
    Kuoro Diyaka Ninia was recently outdoored in a colourful ceremony last week at Zini, his outdoorment saw representatives from the national and regional house of chiefs. He worked in the private sector for many years serving as chief accountant for Plan Ghana at Tamale, the vacancy have been there for close to seven years since the former chief diet in 2010 before he took up the position.

  Information reaching coconutnews24 this morning indicates that, Pardo will not be taking part in this year Sissala music awards. The information came through their record label Quendar entertainment some few minutes ago, the information was not clear on the reasons why they were backing off from the whole awards.

The final nomination list for the 3rd edition of Sissala music awards made public l coconutnews24

   The final nomination list for the 3rd edition of Sisssla music awards is out officially from the vetting board to the organizers, it has now been made known to the various artists taking part in the music awards this year." The artists are therefore advice to disregard any other list from any source but concentrate on this list ", this was revealed by the PRO for the vetting board this morning when releasing the list to the organizers.
     coconutnews24.com spoke to one of the organizers for the Sisssla music awards, Mr. Marifa Aziz who is the PRO. He said this year some of the artists could not quality to be part of this final list  because some of the artists too submitted songs they submitted last year for the awards.     This year he said, Amani, Santana, Hadgimusik and others were able to secure close to five nomination and other artists also secured four to three nomination in total.

DIYAKA SUKABE NINIA’ V ‘OUTDOORED PARAMOUNT CHIEF OF ZINI TRADITIONAL AREA l coconutnews24

A 33 year old Accountant of Plan Ghana an international NGO Tamale branch, Kouro Diyaka Sukabe Ninia V is now the paramount chief of the Zini traditional area and president of the Buwaa traditional council after he was outdoored to take the reins of  the Zini skin on the 11 of August, 2017 at a colourful ceremony at Zini.
Privately known as Sumani Sunkuso Diyaka Abu has been working for the past eleven years. He takes over from the late Doctawie Ninia the 4th, his uncle, who passed to eternity in 2010. For the past seven years, the traditional area has been without a substantive paramount chief for which he has promised to mobilize for develpoment.The area has four divisional chiefs with over nineteen communities all under the paramountcy.
During the outdooring ceremony, he was urged by the upper west regional house of chiefs registrar Mr. Baabina John who represented the president of the upper west regional house of chiefs “to unite his people towards development of the traditional area as they expressed gratitude for such a peaceful process it took to come out with a chief for Zini traditional area, a seat which was vacant and assured to offer necessary cooperation”. Kouro Diyaka Sukabe Ninia was encouraged to follow due process to be gazetted in other to gain recognition from the government of Ghana.
Kouro Diyaka Sukabe Ninia was tasked by the Gwollu Kuoro’s representative, Bulu Kuoro to be a responsible leader who is able to exercise patience no matter the situation he is confronted with. ‘’Should be firm and just in decision making. Meanwhile, members of the Zini community were admonished to support the chief and heed to his calls for development.

In a speech delivered by Kouro Diyaka Sukabe Ninia V, he recalled the historical reinforcement of peace and unity which the Zini skinship and its people enjoy through the instrumental role played by the first chief,Ninia. He assured to accept the responsibility and role to solve challenges the Buwaa area faces and outlined that poor BECE results, bad road network and land disputes are some of the challenges that needs to be addressed. “My role as a leader will not only be the pageantry we see most often as exhibited by leadership, but down to the grassroots where I can participate holistically without any challenges, we will come together as a people, we will prioritize our actions as a people, we will solve them as a people and celebrate them as a people,” he expressed.
The ceremony was attended by chiefs from other parts of the region, district, friends and well-wishers.

SMA board spoke for the first time through their PRO l coconutnews24

The SMA board would like to use this platform to officially disassociate itself from the supposed official list of the contestants of 3rd edition of SMA 2017. Ours would be in hopefully tomorrow. The board members met this afternoon to finally released the finalist list to the organisers for onwards transmission to the various artists and the general public  interest in  the list.
Mr. Bayana who is the Public relations officer for the board spoke to  coconutnews24.com shortly after the meeting, he said the board will officially authenticate the final list and it will be made public by tomorrow morning. So all artists and fans should patiently wait for this list before any other thing he added.

Noise for jobs, don't sit in your home and wait - NPP activist to members l coconutnews24

    An activist for the current NPP government has called on some of his party supporters to noise for jobs and employment instead of waiting for government to identity them and give them jobs or employment. He made these calls on Radford FM Masie breakfast show with Citizen Bashiru Jinapor this morning. He was very emphatic with his submission. He however called on party supporters who have not yet gotten any appointment from the government to take their time since everyone cannot be served at once.
    Mr. Gbegini Salia Majeed is his name, he told me he was born into the NPP and has grown in the party. He said he will continuously be an NPP member irrespective of the happenings in the party. He was asked by the host of the program to assess the government for the past seven months in power and he had this to say about the Nana-Addo led government; he said everybody cannot be happy in the party and not everybody will be served at the same time. He added that, he will personally ask all party members to make the efforts to meet the people in positions to look for jobs. He explained that some people sit at the comfort of their homes and think government should look for them to give them employment, he said that will not work because you will sit there forever and no one will come to you.
   Mr. Majeed also thinks that it is still early days yet for anyone to make an effective assessment of the administration, saying that the government has four complete years to execute their mandate and that all persons should be patient for the government to show what they can offer Ghanaians. He said so far, the government has been fantastic looking at what it has done and what the government is planning on doing, he mentioned planting for foods, one district one factory, one village one dam and other social interventions the government has implemented and is still implementing.

MALARIA, NOW AN ERSTWHILE TOP HEALTH DEVIL OF THE SISSALA EAST DISTRICT OF THE UW/R - coconutnews24

Despite several interventions like; distribution of Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLIN's ), Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) Seasonal Malaria Chemo-Prevention (SMC) among others. Malaria, a tropical and sub-tropical ecological zone condition caused by mosquitoes had still remained a health endemic in the Sissala East District and claimed and is still threatening to claim more lives in the district. This threat is however  been contained partially and rolled-back this time round through the collaborated efforts of key stakeholders in the health sector. This worth adulating success story was revealed at this Year's Mid Performance Review Meeting at the District Assembly Conference Hall of Sissala East, Tumu, by the Ag. District Director of Health Administration, Mr. Nyusin Saani.
According to the Ag. District Health Director, malaria reported cases in the district had dropped from 29% in 2016 to about 20% in the middle of 2017 and is thereby replaced by Upper  Respiratory Track Infections like; bronchitis, catarrh, cough, simple anamae among others;  which are less fatal vis-à-vis malaria whose fatality or mortality rate is very high in the country and particularly claim a life every few minutes especially that of children.
According to Ag. Director, other successes chalked in the year under review included; increased skilled delivery from a little above 44% in 2016 to over 46%. This contributed to the first 6-months of no maternal  death, increased number of resident medical doctor from one (1) two (2), restoration of X-ray services in the Tumu District Hospital which was conspicuously missing for quite a long time in the district. He particularly also showed a glowing appreciation to the Sissala East District Assembly for the immense support given to the DHA in achieving this feat; particularly the crucial role the Assembly played in the conversion of the Wallembelle Health Centre to a Hospital .
He,  however bemoaned some outdated socio-cultural practices, deplorable road network, inadequate; means of transport and human resources (doctors & midwives), poor ambulance service among others as some of the challenges which are holding them back from doing better.
The District Chief Executive, Hon.  Karim Nanyua, in his speech at the occasion was full of words of commendation and appreciation to the various stakeholders who contributed towards the attainment this success story . He promised of government's continuous support to the health sector in the district in order to turn over all the negative health performance indicators to rather point down to the healthy and economic well-being of the people. In this regard, the DCE, specifically mentioned that, government is not resting on its oars in settling the accumulated NHIA arrears it inherited as about 50% of the debt had already been offset. He also added that, most of the roads which were awarded on contract by the erstwhile administration in the district without the necessary funding are going to be streamlined from the central government to ensure the reconstruction of those roads to help boost access to health services and other economic activities in the district. The DCE ended his speech by enjoining all actors to live the theme of the Mid-Year Review "Sustaining Community Partnership Towards the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals."

Upper West regional chapter of Activista fully launched - Youth challenged to fight Tax justice l coconutnews24

    A one day workshop was organized in Wa in the Upper West Region by the regional Youth Authority in collaboration with Action aid Ghana yesterday to mark  international youth day and to launch Upper West regional chapter of Activista; a global connection of youth working to fight tax justice in society. The day saw participants from almost all districts in the Upper west region, people came from; Tumu, Jirapa, lawra, Lambusie and Wa,  Participants were taken through the significance of the international youth day and how the youth can benefit from this special day. The youth were tasked to stand up and show leadership in the various districts they came from.
    Mr. Tontie of Action Aid represented the organization at the celebration and the launch. In launching the upper west regional chapter of Activista, he challenged the leadership for Activista; Rasheed from Tumu, Lambert from Jirapa,   Adalyne from Wa to hold regular meeting after the launch to  create more awareness about the role of Activista. After Activista was fully launched, participants were made to speak about how the body can take up the issue of Tax justice. coconutnews24 spoke to one of the organizers of the program, Mr. Rasheed Salifu from Tumu who said the purpose of forming Activista in the Upper west region was to help in the national fight against Tax justice in Ghana, they think that if the issue of Tax justice is taken up seriously it can help the government to generate more revenue. Once more revenue is generated, the government will have more space to bring more development to the nation.

    Another participant in the workshop, Madam Florence said the workshop was very helpful to her but also added that next time if something like this was to be organized in the region they should reach out to more people within the region.

Activista Ghana for Upper Weat regional chapter launched in Wa - Youth challenge to fight Tax justice l coconutnews24

    A one day workshop was organized by the regional youth authority in collaboration with Action aid yesterday to mark international day celebration and to launch the the Upper West regional chapter of Activista; a global connection of youth to fight a injustice in society. The day saw participants from almost all district in the Upper west region, people came from; Tumu, Jirapa, lawra, Lambusie and Was town itself. Participants were taking through the significance of international youth day and how the youth can benefit from this special day set aside, the youth was tasked to stand up and show leadership in the various districts they came from.
    Mr. Tontie of Action Aid was also present for this celebration and the launch. In launching the upper west regional chapter of #Activista, he challenged the leadership for Activista Rasheed from Tumu, Lambert from Jirapa,   Adalyne from Wa to hold regular meeting after the launch to  create more awareness about the whole of Activista. RADFORD FM beat national service personnel in football friendly match l coconutnews24

   The staff of Tumu RADFORD FM and personnel from the national service yesterday locked horns in a friendly football match to climax the activities of the stay of national service personel in the district, a clean up campaign was carried out in the morning and a friendly football match against the staff of Tumu RADFORD FM later in the evening. The activities of the national service personnel were all rounded up with this spectacular friendly football match with the personel, the Tumu sports stadium was yesterday half full with people from both far and near to come witness this football match.
    The personel were at the premises of RADFORD FM very early in the morning to carryout this clean exercise, they numbered close to 10 to 15 personal for the clean up exercise. The numbers were low because most of them were either still at work places of far from Tumu town, in the evening at around 3:30pm in Tumu sports stadium. Players from RADFORD FM and national service personnel all showed up at the sports stadium for the friendly match. The national service personnel were however beaten by the staff of RADFORD FM by two goals to one, courtesy Nelson Payan and Hardi Musah for RADFORD FM and the only from Bashit aka Adebayor for the national service team.
    Speaking to all the players yesterday after the match, the manager for RADFORD FM Mr. Mohammed Balu Salia spoke to both teams to continue the relationship and do more next time they meet again like thus, the president from the national service personnel Mr. Cletus Anbazoravii was full with praise to both sides for a success fan game.

The president of uppers west regional house of chief was outdoored yesterday in Wa by the national house of chief and ministry of chieftaincy. The ceremony saw a lot of people rejoicing at the grounds, the president now his Excellency Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton will be the full president for the upper west chiefs. The immediate predecessor was Nandon Naa Dr. Piere, the regional minister and his deputy was also present to grace the occasion.
  In his speech delivered to the gathering , he called on government to fix the major roads in the region since the season was coming to an end. He also commended government on the policy it brought about this planting for foods and jobs since it has made many youth venture into agriculture for the first time in large numbers.
