The PFJ program brought alot of relief to me and most leaders - Former NPP constituency secretary

Planting for foods and jobs program is one of the social intervention policies by the Nana led NPP government introduced to bring relief to most farmers. Especially, farmers in the Upper West, East and Northern regions of Ghana.
Since this program started last year, it has supported most farmers in terms  of access to fertilizer and availability of improved seeds for farming.
Farmers have since had a great relief of going through difficulties to get money to buy fertilizers in the open.
Now, farmers can easily buy these fertilizers because government has subsidized almost half of the amount and farmers pay the remaining half.

  Last year, even the half price farmers were required to pay was also divided into halves for farmers to pay part before the farming season and pay the remaining half after the farming. However, as humans, most people could not pay back their remaining half causing government to review the policy on the method of payment and method of picking the fertilizer from the warehouse.

   For Last year, because of the low recovery rate, the whole policy has been reviewed to improve efficiency in the system. It was based on this the former NPP constituency secretary in Sissala East granted a panel conversation to Radford FM yesterday on their evening current affairs program, titled, “Trending issues”.
As we speak this year, the fertilizers for the two Sissala districts have not arrived yet because of the fear of smuggling by some dealers in the community. Due to this change, there has been a delay of the release of fertilizer or coupons so that farmers can buy fertilizers in the open market at the same subsidized price. When asked, Hon. Benin Sulemani who was once an assembly member for Kpeviera-Yalia electoral area, said that the introduction of this PFJ program brought great relief to him personally and most farmers.

  He added that, fertilizer came as low as ghs28 per bag and no reasonable farmer would walk to him to buy something he or she can also equally buy. Hon. Sulemani said,  If this program fails, the burden will come to most of them people look up to in the community. He therefore adviced the leaders for the two Sissala districts to sit up and allow a task force to monitor the collection and distribution of the fertilizer that enter the two districts so that it does not fail. He also added that the MCE and DCE  should not only sit in their offices and think everything is going on well but should also from time to time conduct some research to see if farmers have received the fertilizers and how they are using them to increase the recovery rate.

  Hon. Benin also added that l, having learnt some lessons from the last farming season, the government has brought some light changes into the system, he said instead of farmers paying half and paying the rest later,  this time, they would pay all the half before they access the fertilizer and also government will no longer bring fertilizers but will allow agents to buy this fertilizer and thus farmers can buy from them at a reduced government subsidise price.

   Other speakers on the panel discussion included a former DCE Hon. Robert Baka and a former assembly member for Zongo electoral area Hon. Fuseini Liman aka 24hours, 24hours also said if the government is serious on reducing smuggling then they should distribute the fertilizers that come to the various Fascons warehouses in some of the selected communities in the area. He said this alone will reduce the pressure in the municipal capital giving way for people to monitor their activities, it is a good policy introduced by the government but if they also let it fail it can dwindle their chances in the two Sissala districts -he added.

  Hon. Robert on the other hand  believes that the district does not have a strong data base about the amount of fertilizer that comes in and the amount of fertilizer that leaves the district, he said if they have how come some bags could not be accounted for,  he said the local leaders in the district should rise above all other things and put the right measures in place to make the program successful here.

All Efforts to reach the Honorable Member for Tumu Zongo proved futile- Former DCE Robert Baka Wavei laments l coconutnews24

Former DCE for the Sissala district, Hon. Robert Baka Wavei has revealed through Radford FM’s current affairs program tireless efforts he advanced to reach the current assembly member for the Tumu zongo electoral area, Hon. Luri Bagon. According to the former DCE, he has sent for the honorable member on four consecutive occasions yet the assembly member has still not showed up.

Lamenting the incident, the former DCE revealed that he even went as far as sending the father of the member to get him for a discussion but has still rejected his calls with no reason.

He further added that the father of the honorable member even met him, the former DCE and quizzed whether his son had met him in person, and he responded a no.

Hon. Robert confessed that there has been an issue in the electoral area that he wants to advice the assembly man on but since he has rejected his calls he will still wait and anytime he gets him he will make his concerns known to him.

   The former DCE was responding to the issue of advice and how he as DCE had received it and how he has also advised other leaders to succeed in their work. He also said it was because of the advice he called on the assembly member for the area and that during his   tenure as DCE he got alot of information and advice from " Truck pushers ".

He recalled that they had always requested for a drink in return to offer him information. Hon Robert said through their advice he helped the assembly to raise enough revenue for the development of the district. Other panelists also spoke on the subject matter, stating the various ways they have received advice and how they have also given advice.

  All this follows the call from the deputy upper west regional minister Hon. Amidu Chinnia on how advice can help an individual or group to succeed.

RE: ALL EFFFORTS TO REACH THE HONORABLE MEMBER FOR TUMU ZONGO ELECTORAL AREA PROVED FUTILE - FORMER DCE, ROBERT BAKA WAVEI LAMENTS

In an exclusive interview with the Assemblyman for the area, Hon. Luri Bagon, he confirmed  that the former DCE sent for him. However, he denies claims of not wanting to see him.

The honorable member further revealed  that he also went to Hon. Robert’s house on three occasions but never met him in person.

“Each time I went there i met only his wife but as an elderly person of his nature i did not want to call him or meet him outside his home”, he said.

Hon. Bagon however added that if the former DCE insist on meeting him outside, which is something he wanted to avoid because of his elderly position, he would make up for that, he revealed to me.

250 young Ghanaians to be employed in the Upper West region, Acting regional minister I coconutnews24

  The acting regional minister for the Upper West region Hon. Amidu Chinnia have yesterday launch a online digital marketing program that will create 250 jobs for young men and women in the ICT world in the Upper West region, he said this system is one of governments initiative to create jobs for the youth in the region. He made this announcement immediately after the launch on his official facebook wall in the early hours of yesterday. During the launch, he stressed that this program will equip the youth with skills development and entrepreneurial abilities.   
  Here is what the acting regional minister said on his facebook wall " I launched the online digital marketing program today at the regional library. 250 young people from the region are going to benefit from the program. Skills development and entrepreneurship are key in government agenda to create jobs thereby reducing unemployment and poverty of our people. Earlier in the day i received a team that's implementing the 11th European development project in all 11 districts of the region."

Member of Parliament admonishes Sissala Union to set targets I coconutnews24

  The member of Parliament for Sissala East Hon. Ridwan Abass Dauda today charged the executives for Sissala Union to set targets for the organization to see if they are making progress or retrogressing as a people, he made these revelations during a one year review meeting at the Sissala East District Assembly hall complex. He was speaking to chiefs, opinion leaders, branch executives and his constituents. For the year under review, he catalogued some of his achievements for the past year since being in office. He mentioned how he has supported the Ghana police service, prisons service and immigration with fuel and other logistics to work effectively to police the area. He also spoke about how he was able to secure scorlarship for a girl from his constituency as well as the support he gave to the educational sector, health sector, agriculture and other sectors.
   In his concluding statements, the hon. MP said the executives should try and let the Union set achievable target for themselves since this will help them to work towards achieving those goals in due course. Hon. Ridwan said if this is not done, it will be difficult for the Union to know weather they are making progress or not. Apart from this, it will also help them know which areas they need to put emphasis on.
He also called on the general public to support them to achieve their set targets because whatever goals are achieved will inure to the benefit of the constituency.

Sissala Union is a body from the Sissala area, which comprises Sissala East, Sissala West, some parts of Funsi and some parts of Lambusie. They meet annually to review activities for the year as well as discuss issues affecting the Sissala people. Governments lack of implementation of social programs leading to communities engaging in... I coconutnews

The lack of implementation of key government policies has led to some community members engaging in Rosewood harvesting. This is the opinion of the youth organizer of the National Democratic Congress in the Sissala East Constituency Hon. Adamu Yakubu aka Cadet talking on Radford FM current affair program.  He said if government had implemented its major campaign promises within a reasonable time it will have solved the numerous problems facing the people of Constituency. He was speaking on a Tumu Based radio station on a program called news review. Hon. Yakubu said the lack of implementation of the one village one dam, one district one factory, one million dollars per constituency and many more were the reasons why the youth in the area were engaging in rosewood business. He said the youth have nothing to do and that is why they resort to these acts so if government delivers on its promises, such acts will stop.

  The hon. Member of the Assembly was reacting to questions on how the people in Sissala East were engaging in rosewood business. He also spoke about the general feeling over the last one year and said he has seen nothing significant happening to Ghana, so the president should act very quickly to achieve his campaign promises. He commended the governments slogan of Ghana beyond aid but urged the government to focus on progressive partnerships.

Assembly members directly involved in rosewood business- Abass Karim

  A communications member for the New Patriotic Party in the Sissala West District Mr. Abass Karim has made very strong calls on the people involved in the rosewood business in the Sissala land to stop. He said he has intelligent reports that the assembly members in those communities where rosewood were being harvested and transported are directly involved in the business. He said assembly members for Jeffisi, Timmie, Du-Wie and Desime, were the ones behind this act, he also mentioned names like Ali Yahaya and Dawuda Ghanha a government appointee and Du-Wie Assembly man. Mr. Abass says if they think he is wrong they should prove him otherwise, he said he was very certain on what he was saying and called on the stakeholders to intervene before he leads the youth in the area to stop their activities.
  He spoke to Bashiru Jinapor on Radford FM on a current affair program called news review, is hosted on Saturday evening to discuss topical issue in the week.

Leaked Kwesi Botchwey report recommended unity tour and not unity walk l coconutnews24.com

   Even before we officially see the Kwesi Botchwey report, the ruling New Patriotic Party ( NPP) government seem to have more details concerning the report than many other Ghanaians. One of their communication officers from Sissala West in the Upper West Region Mr. Abass Karim has said that, the leaked Kwesi Botchwey report did not recommend unity walk but rather recommended a unity tour. He insisted that the opposition party has implemented the report very wrongly, saying that it is not only the ten regional chairmen who have engaged in this illegality in their own party but the whole party led by former president John Mamaha started it when they wrongfully engaged in the unity walk. He also argued that, regarding what the regional chairmen did, there where two conflicting schools of thoughts. While  some in the party like Kofi Adams and co supported the walks, others such as Rockson Adei think the action was wrong and they must be reprimanded.
   Mr. Abass remarked that he supports the position of those who said it was wrong because they said those who were arguing in that direction were making reference to their party constitution. He said the other side who thinks their action was right never mentioned their party constitution, Mr. Abass was responding to the actions of the ten NDC regional chairmen who openly called on the former president to consider coming back to lead the party. He also touched on the controversy between the former president John Mamaha and vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the Ghana Post GPS saying that the vice president hit the nail on the head when he responded to the former president in like manner. Mr. Abass also commented on the  rosewwod issue, presiding member confirmation and the budget to be read on Wednesday by finance minister.
Mr. Abass was speaking on a Tumu based radio station Radford FM on a program called news review, a program hosted on every Saturday that highlights all the major issues of the week. He said that he thinks his government will work to create jobs for the jobless youth in the country.

   " I do not like free things, anything free is not valued " he continued, " I want to pay for the education of my children, if you make education free the citizens will eat free, sleep free and fail free". This were the words of John Bagbara, a communications spokes person for the Peoples National Convention ( PNC) on Radford FM yesterday. He was responding to whether the NPP government has implemented its manifesto promises based on which they were elected. He said gradually, the government is achieving its promises but there were some huge problems with most of the promises. Explaining further, he said the NPP government brought planting for foods and jobs which also brought with it fall army worms which has devastated many farms. He said the government also restored the allowances of nurses but has not guaranteed their automatic employment.
    Mr. John continued that he saw some pictures on social media where students were being served food on the bare floor in one senior high school. He lamented that if this how bad things are getting, then the government should have rather used the free education resources to build more infrastructure for the various senior high schools in  Ghana. He questioned the rationale for implementing a policy when the necessary infrastructure and  basic facilities like a place for serving food are not available. He said when you give Ghanaians something free, they will enjoy it free, eat free, sleep free and fail in the long run free. This why Mr. John said he personally doesn't support anything free from government. He rather advised the government to invest the resources they are using for free education to build more infrastructure for the various senior high schools.
   Mr. John was speaking on a Tumu based radio station, Radford FM on a current affairs program news review. This is a program hosted every Saturday which engages duty bearers on their responsibilities. It was on this program that he made these submissions on the topic, news for the week.

He also spoke about how the Sissala east district can develop by making circuit supervisors to stay at their circuit centers. He said doing that will cut down on cost.

  I agree that a proper needs inventory was not done before the district accepted those equipment, so the least said about them the better. Also the use of those equipment is not here, they are high rise once and others need low bed lorries to carry them to their destinations. Adamu Yakubu aka Cadet on Radford FM during a talkshow program called news review, he was accessing the Ten month old government of president Nana Addo, he said since their government left power led by John Mahama everything have come to a stand still. He said the roads their government did have not been completed.
   When he was asked to tell the listeners about the usefulness of some equipment Sissala East district Assembly bought some years back, he said the intention for buying those equipment was a business motive. He said when those equipments were bought they could not be used here, he said the tipper track was too high for people to use and the grader could not move a long distance unless is conveyed by a low bed machine. It was after this the host Bashiru Jinapor suggests that then from what he was saying, there was no proper needs inventory done before their purchase, this the Hon. Member of the assembly agreed with the host that the needs of the people were not taken into consideration before their purchase.
    Hon. Adamu Yakubu also spoke about, planting for foods and jobs, free education and restoration of nursing trainees allowance, he said all those policies were started by the previous government but now their names have only been changed to suit their manifesto promises.

He said all the things they were talking of were not significant to the development of Ghana and however questioned the existence of the current MP for Sissala East Hon. Abass Ridwan Dauda, he said since the MP won he has never seen him speak in Parliament and also he did nothing for his people. Hon. Adamu is challenging the MP to speak on the floor of Parliament. He also spoke about other government projects and said the government have performed below  expectations.

Spotted an over 60 year old car of former president l coconutnew24

  coconutnews24 just spotted an over 60 year old car of the former president of the republic of Ghana Dr. Hilla limann, if you look at the car very well is an old car from the colonial days, it was the only car they saw after his death. So a full president of Ghana for almost two years has only a colonial car which cannot even move today as we speak but what are we seeing today? Some gets there just a day old and what they have you and your entire finally can work for all your years but you will not get closer. This car shows how the former president was very clean with state resources, he was someone who did not like to take someone's property. Today no one can point fingers at him by saying he stole state resources.
   Today can political leaders do that? I don't think so, why? Because when you do that even today society will insult you and say all manner of things after your power. They will even say a full political head and you have no house, car of even good education for your children. So today our leaders are corrupt not because they are corrupt but society made them so, even though we have some few leaders who's primary responsibility is to make money. Political leaders must rule with clean hearts to promote party unity l coconutnews24

    Speaking on news review yesterday, the communications director for the ruling NPP government have challenged political party leaders to operate with clean hearts to bring party unity, Mr. Bataong Kukulmua Alhassan AKA Tayota has called on his party leaders to work with clean hearts to promote internal and external party peace in the constituency. Mr. Kukulmua was warning his party leaders on what will bring division in the party, he said if you are a leader in the party like say DCE or MP or a minister and you decide to work with some section on the party, it will bring division in the party. He said when you always bring all sides to work together that will be the conduct of a good leader " like what my DCE did just some few days ago, when the president was coming he called all the executives and asked us how will we receive the president, we all brought our ideas and committees were formed " Mr. Tayota told us. But if you are a leader and always bring one side and leave the other, the other side will fell neglected and this can lead to a situation that can bring party disunity.
   Mr. Kukulmua praise the DCE for Sissala East Hon. Karim Nanyua for the way he brought all party sides together to work and said that was the way to go which will promote party unity. He said all this things when he was asked to respond to what minister for inner cities and gongo development Mr. Abubakr Boniface Sadique on Radford fm current affair program called news review about party unity, you know he told the Concombas and the Dagombas in Accra that " politicians eat and drink  together, so don't fight for them. MP FOR SISSALA EAST DONATES 50 BAGS OF CEMENT TO SUPPORT SAKIA SELF-HELP PROJECT l coconutnews24

The Member of Parliament for the Sissala East District Hon. Ridwan Abass Dauda today 04-Oct-17 donated 50 bags of cement to the Sakia community to enable them complete a self-help project. The community is currently constructing a two unit teacher accommodation, repaired two others and one other apartment at the health facility in Sakia and are nearing completion yet remains some more work to be done. According to the Member of parliament Hon. Ridwan Abass Dauda, the initiative taken by the community since last year has inspired him to support complete the project and further pledged to supply needed materials for the success of the project. Hon. Ridwan Abass Dauda, use the occasion to remind members of the community about projects government is implementing which includes free SHS, planting for food and jobs that has its target scaled up to 500,000 famers next year instead of the 200,000 aside the fertilizer subsidy and the construction of major roads in the district that are beneficial and would enhance livelihoods of the people. Some roads, health facilities and schools including Tumu Senior High Technical School in the district are captured in a proposal to be submitted for construction, upgrading and more under the $1Million per constituency policy of the NPP government he revealed adding that Sakia is earmarked for digital TV tower and integration of Data service into the network service pole in the community for easy access to internet. The Member of Parliament urged parents to allow girls and children access education, taken advantage of the free SHS policy and desist giving out girls for child marriage. The DCE Hon. Karim Nanyua accompanied the MP and was grateful to members of the community for coming in their numbers to receive the president His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The Assembly Member Hon. Maani Baluri and the members of the community were happy for the gesture and prayed for God’s strength for MP to prosper in all his endeavors.

The president have deceived the people of Ghana for power, mr Nankpa l coconutnews24

   One of the PNC communicators Mr. Jibril Nankpa told the president with no uncertain terms that he has mislead the people of Ghana for power, he said even though he comments him for the bold  initiatives the president is undertaken he has also deceived the people of Ghana on some of his policies he promised the citizen. Mr. Nankpa said, the president never promised free first year education, he said what he heard was that when the NPP comes to power everyone at the Senior high level will enjoy free education. But he said we are seeing a total different method of implementation where only first years are enjoying the free education departing from their promise during opposition.
    Mr. Jibril was speaking on news review on Radford FM, he said this things yesterday. He was asked by the host about his views on the free education and he was very bold in saying what he said, he also said that what the president did was a discrimination to those in year two and three and therefore called on the president to allow the students in year two three to use the books for free education. He also added that, the president should use a vehicle to visit the districts in the region and should not venture to fly by air to Tumu and Gwollu. This was in reaction to the intention of the president to tour the three northern regions.

Minister donates equipments worth Ghs7,000 to beneficiary communities l coconutnews24

  The deputy upper west regional minister, Mr. Amidu Issahaku Chinnia today donated some office items and other assorted items to two communities in Sissala East and Sissala west. He was called by the educational director about their inability to photocopy and print official documents, The minister after hearing that from the directorate took steps to address their challenges from his personal savings.
    In the early hours of day, the deputy minister visited Nabugbelle in the Sissala east and Gwollu in the Sissala west district to make his presentation to them, at Gwollu educational office, he donated a printer, photo copier and scanner worth four thousand eight hundred Ghana CEDI's ( Ghs4,800 ). He challenged the directorate to take good care of the equipment. At Nabugbelle CHIP compound the deputy minister donated an air conditioner and a refrigerator worth two thousand two hundred Ghana CEDI's ( Ghs2,200 ), he told the health facility officials to take good care of the items for them to last longer, Mr. Chinnia said the items were founded by himself.
    coconutnews24 spoke to Mr. Latif Chakilia, who is the special assistant to the deputy minister, he said the minister made this presentation from his personal pocket because of how health and education is very dear to His heart. He said the people were full of praises to the minister and his donation, adding that they also told the minister to constantly visit them to get first hand information about their problems.

Noise for jobs, don't sit in your home and wait - NPP activist to members l coconutnews24

    An activist for the current NPP government has called on some of his party supporters to noise for jobs and employment instead of waiting for government to identity them and give them jobs or employment. He made these calls on Radford FM Masie breakfast show with Citizen Bashiru Jinapor this morning. He was very emphatic with his submission. He however called on party supporters who have not yet gotten any appointment from the government to take their time since everyone cannot be served at once.
    Mr. Gbegini Salia Majeed is his name, he told me he was born into the NPP and has grown in the party. He said he will continuously be an NPP member irrespective of the happenings in the party. He was asked by the host of the program to assess the government for the past seven months in power and he had this to say about the Nana-Addo led government; he said everybody cannot be happy in the party and not everybody will be served at the same time. He added that, he will personally ask all party members to make the efforts to meet the people in positions to look for jobs. He explained that some people sit at the comfort of their homes and think government should look for them to give them employment, he said that will not work because you will sit there forever and no one will come to you.
   Mr. Majeed also thinks that it is still early days yet for anyone to make an effective assessment of the administration, saying that the government has four complete years to execute their mandate and that all persons should be patient for the government to show what they can offer Ghanaians. He said so far, the government has been fantastic looking at what it has done and what the government is planning on doing, he mentioned planting for foods, one district one factory, one village one dam and other social interventions the government has implemented and is still implementing.

I still remain the general secretary for PNC - Atik insist on newsdesk

   The general secretary for Peoples National Convention(PNC), Mr. Atik Mohammed have today insisted that he is and still remain the substantive general secretary for their party, he made this revelations very strongly this morning on joynews desk with the presenter. Mr. Atik explained that the leader of their party cause all that is going on in their party, saying that just last week the party leadership meet the leader to explain to them why he accepted a position in the Nana administration without consulting them. He said it was in this meeting the whole saga started, where the party leader wanted to change the agenda of the meeting.
    Mr. Atik explained that it was there he had a problem with their leader, their leader wanted them to stop talking about why he accepted the post but talk rather about why the party lost in the 2016 elections. Mr. Atik said this was not the original agenda of the meeting so he could not sit in to discuss that but ask to leave the meeting, he said he was home when he heard he was suspense indefinitely from the party. But in his reactions, he said he will still operate as the general secretary for their party and no one can stop him from performing his duties.
