UW/REGIONAL POLICE COMMAND; APPLAUDED PARAMOUNT CHIEF OF TUMU TRADITIONAL AREA, MP OF THE CONSTITUENCY, DCE AND OTHERS FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND COMMITMENT IN BRINGING ABOUT LAW AND ORDER IN THE DISTRICT

The Traditional and Political Rulers and Authorities respectively of the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region of Ghana had been lauded by the Regional Police Command for significantly contributing in bringing about law and order in the district. These acknowledgements and appreciations remarks were made at separate familiarization meetings by the newly posted Deputy Regional Police Corpus, ACP Edward Oduro-Kwarteng with the; District Chief Executive and some Assembly staffs, Paramount Chief of Tumu Traditional Area and Tumu Town Council as well as the Executives of the GPRTU and the general public . The Deputy Regional Police Chief at all the meetings with the above groups and stakeholders repeatedly    intimated this through his spokesperson, Superintendent, Alhaji Hussein Musah Awinaba; the Regional Crime Officer that "From the Member of Parliament (MP), the District Chief Executive to the Paramount Chief had collaborated and supported the police in several ways in fighting crime in the district. The MP for instance had provided the police with two (2) motorbikes and fuel and is making continuous efforts to put up new police stations in the district, whereas the Tumu Paramount Chief is a known advocate  at the police headquarters  in Accra for the use of crash helmet in the district by motor riders which helped curbed motor accident related deaths, and the District Chief Executive and the Assembly are well committed to the welfare of the police in the district".
Now what is left is the bid of the rest of the opinion leaders and the general public to win the fight against the three commonest crimes: armed robbery, motorbike theft and cattle rustling  in the district and for that matter Upper West Region as a whole.
He also added that, the big void created by the on posting of the immediate former District Police  Commander to the Nkwanta North District of the Volta Region, ASP,  William Ayesu Asare who took policing to a top notch in the district is been realised by the Inspector General of Police, who once served in this district and any mention of the town Tumu before him always caught his rapt attention. And maybe for this reason, he's carefully working round the clock to get a perfect and superb Commander 'Ayesu-replica' or replacement for the good people of the Sissala East District.
Contributing to this engagement, Alhaji Mahmoud Fuseini, 1st Vice Chairman of Tumu GPRTU, demanded   for a deepened collaboration between them and the police in the areas of  vehicle inspection for waybills of all manner of goods and load, this he said would contribute to early detection of stolen goods or items especially cattle. He also requested of the police to help check reckless motor riding in town by some youth.
The Deputy Commander and his men had since left Tumu after having a fruitful discussions with all the necessary stakeholders in the security sector.
