Action Aid Ghana, a non governmental organization which operates in the Sissala East and now at Wa has promised the people of Kulfuo a six unit classroom block with all the infrastructure it needs for academic work. The organization has operated in the Sissala East District for over a decade and is still carrying out projects in certain communities especially in the area of education. They have constructed schools, dams and provided scholarships for brilliant but need children in the area . They have beneficiary communities in which they work in and Kulfuo is one if those beneficiary communities in the district. All beneficiary communities have a fair share of interventions and Kulfuo will be benefitting from one of these interventions in the coming months.
At a small community durbar yesterday organized by ACTIONAID at the Kulfuo chief's place, the director for ACTIONAID in the Sissala East District Mr. George Dery announced their intention to construct the six unit classroom block for the community. He said the facility will be equipped with all it needs to operate. He also added that the classroom block will come with furniture, a library, a borehole, playing equipment and other female friendly facilities. Mr. Dery said the school is intended to retain more girls in school, he also added that the school will be a mixed school but will focus more on girl child education and how the girls can be motivated to learn and not dropout. Mr. George said the bidding process for the construction of the building has already been done, and his outfit is in the process of selecting a contractor in the coming weeks for work to commence. He added that, when the final contract is signed it will take close to five months to finish the project. He disclosed that the physical infrastructure will cost not less than Ghs500,000.00 to complete the whole project.
Mr George was accompanied by the circuit supervisor for Tarsor/Kulfuo circuit Mr. Salifu Narimah and the DCE for Sissala east Hon. Karim Nanyia, both representatives spoke about the benefits of the school infrastructure saying that they should let their girls stay at home and attend the school. The community members were full with praises for the Mr. George and his organization for not forgetting about their community and called all community members to support the project, the thanked the sponsors for the programs. The project will be sponsored by a UK based organization called People's Post Code Lottery (PPCL).
